-Sleepless nights, wondering where your child is.
-Missed days of work to take care of your teen.
-Walking on eggshells around the house to appease your teen.
-Locking your bedroom door at night, or when you leave for work.
-Fear of daily physical abuse from your teen.
-Daily calls from your child's school.
-Every potential source of teen help turns into a dead end.
Teen Boarding Schools
When parents reach a decision that they can no longer continue caring for their at risk youth, they have some serious decisions to make. The most difficult decision, that of moving forward with placement, they need to decide where to send their youth. There are hundreds of choices across the country with a broad spectrum of programming techniques, and a large variety of price points. Many programs dealing with at risk youth have similar core ideas but a multitude of different ways to administer them.
At Risk Youth
Many parents are financially unable to place their child outside of the home. This is not the end of the world, or even the end of the at risk youth. If a parent is able to increase the time they spend with their at risk youth, they may have equal success to a parent that decides to send their child away from home. When a parent sincerely determines to make a difference in their childís life, they will more than likely be able to do so. It will require sacrifice and a lot of time and effort but convincing the at risk youth they do love them and want the best for them, can go a long way in helping the problem. Basically what the parent is doing is reducing the risk by becoming involved in their childís life as much as they are able to be.
Dogs can be a useful and effective way of changing a troubled teens behavior around. Teens open up to dogs and are willing to change and respond well to the puppies unconditional love. The Puppy Programs have noticed an increase in teenís ability to focus when they begin caring for a dog. We have personally witnessed one student who struggled academically and behaviorally. When he received a dog to foster not only did he improve behaviorally, his academics began to improve also.
